AS OF 11/30/2020, PARKING ENFORCEMENT IS ACTIVE. Payment is currently not required in metered areas, but the time limits are being enforced.
Fifteen Minute Parking

In the areas of Downtown, Depot Town, and West Cross, several on-street parking spaces have been designated 15-minute only to facilitate customer pickup/takeout parking. Please be aware of these spaces when parking.

Coin Shortage Response

The City has suspended payment at meters in response to the coin shortage, but is still enforcing time limits. Most metered spaces are timed for two hours; each area is posted indicating what that time limit is.

Depot Town Meters/Timed Parking

New time limits have been posted in the Depot Town area, both on-street and in the Maple Street Lot and Freighthouse Lot. These time limits are being enforced, but payment is not required due to the ongoing coin shortage. Please see the posted signage and the maps below for the time limits.

Changes in 2020

Additional handicap-placard parking is being added in Depot Town, Downtown, and West Cross. The Ballard Street Parking Lot (behind Golden Wall) is now free parking, however, you must have a resident or employee permit to park there overnight.
In Depot Town, on-street parking timing will be adjusted to two-hour paid parking, Monday through Saturday, 10a-7p. In the Freighthouse parking lot, parking will be three-hour paid parking, Monday through Saturday, 10a-7p; in the Maple Street parking lot, parking will be four-hour paid, Monday through Saturday, 10a-7p. Payment kiosks have been installed, but are not yet taking payment. Enforcement of paid parking will begin after Labor Day or once the coin shortage alleviates, whichever is later.
As always, blocking crosswalks, fire hydrants, driveways, or fire access aisles; occupying a handicap-placard space without a handicap placard, parking more than 12 inches from the curb, or otherwise parking in violation of the Michigan Vehicle Code and/or posted signage is subject to enforcement action.
